Why is Peritus Products Unique?

Peritus™ Products are cost effective, fiber-reinforced extruded profiles that can be engineered to have similar properties for both wood and stone products.  Peritus™ Products are made with the use of abundant natural and recycled raw materials readily available worldwide.  For example, Peritus™ Board can be used for products such as siding, trimboard, decking, fencing, furniture and may other typically wood based applications with the added benefit of termite and fire resistance.  Peritus™ Stone can be used for countertops, cladding, tiles, pavers, and other architectural stone products creating a natural, unique finishes and textures.

Why is Pertius Products Environmentally Superior?

Peritus™ Products can be ordered to meet specific US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) requirements for MR Credits 4.1 and MR Credit 4.2 of 10% or 20% minimum post-consumer and post-industrial waste recycled content by weight.  In many compositions, Peritus™ Products can be greater than 50% recycled content by weight far exceeding the guidelines set by LEED.  Depending upon the location of the project, Peritus™ Products may by suitable for MR Credit 5.1 and MR 5.2 for regionally sourced materials.

Is Peritus Products Technology Patent Protected?

Peritus™ Products is fully protected by 6 US Granted Patents and additional US Patents pending.

What is the Difference Between Peritus Stone and Peritus Board?

Peritus™ Stone are products that have properties similar to natural stone or concrete. It has a typical flexural strength of 26MPa with a bulk density of 1.7g/cm³ ±0.2. It has an absorption rate of 2.5% ± 0.2 after 48 hours immersion in water. It does not burn or smoke (flame spread: 0 and smoke density: 0) and has a NFPA Class A/UBC Class I fire rating.  Peritus™ Stone is scratch resistant with a MOH’s hardness of at least 4.0. Other properties include resistance to weather, termites, dry rot, mold, fading under UV and other light exposure.  As a true stone replacement product, Peritus™ Stone can be handled in much the same manner as current stone materials using the standard tools and methods for this industry, as well as standard fastening systems and methods. The material may also be treated using customary stone working techniques.

Peritus™ Board are products that have similar properties to wood.  It has a typical flexural strength of 2,750psi with a bulk density of 0.9 g/cc ±0.1.  It has an absorption rate of 5.0% ± 0.5 after 48 hours immersion in water.  It is an environmentally stable/non-toxic wood, plastic or stone replacement that does not burn or smoke (flame spread: 0 and smoke density: 0) and has a NFPA Class A/UBC Class I fire rating.  Peritus™ Trimboard has an impact resistance similar to that of semi-hardwood (ASTM E 661).  It complies with ASTM C1186 Standard Specification for Grade III Type A, Non-Asbestos Fiber Cement Flat Sheets. For external use, it passes freeze/thaw requirements.  It is also resistant to termites, insects, mold and fungi.  It passes accelerated weathering testing without any visible damage at 5x magnification including; cracking, crazing, erosion warping, rotting or other characteristics that might effect performance.  Peritus™ Board can be painted, stained, cut, trimmed, routed, nailed, stapled, screwed or bonded using standard wood working equipment.  It is available in many finishes, textures, and colors.  Peritus™ Board is well suited for use as an alternative to wood, MDF or PVC trim for both interior and exterior applications.

Are Custom Colors Available for Peritus™ Products?

Yes, all of our colors are custom colors and each color is in accordance with our customers product specifications.

What Type of Maintenance is Required for Peritus™ Products?

No additional maintenance is required, outside of standard cleaning practices.

Is a Warranty Associated with Peritus™ Products?

Yes, Peritus™ Stone includes a 10 year limited product warranty against manufacturer defects.  Peritus™ Board includes a 5 year limited product warranty against manufacturer defects.

Is Any Specialty Tooling Required?

No, all standard stone and wood working equipment may be used.

How do Environmental Elements (i.e. water) Affect Peritus™ Products?

Peritus™ Products are sealed to withstand most extreme weather conditions in accordance with ASTM C1186 and AC90.

Is Peritus™ Products Stain-Resistant?

Standard industry concrete is a very porous material and therefore can stain easily.  Peritus™ Products are designed with a much denser infrastructure and are sealed against water and most staining.

What is the Maximum Length and Width of Countertop that can be Ordered?

Peritus™ Stone may be manufactured in most dimensions; however, standard nominal dimensions are: 6mm to 10mm thick, up to 122cm wide with lengths up to 245cm.

How Much do Peritus™ Products Weigh?

The typical weight of Peritus™ Stone is 1.6g/cm3, making it approximately half the weight of traditional concrete.  Peritus™ Board is 0.95g/cm3, making it similar to that of a hardwood.

Are Peritus™ Products Scratch Resistant?

Depending on the application of Peritus™ Stone, it has a scratch resistence ranging from 4-7 (MOH’s Scale).

What Surface Finishes are Available?

Currently there is a variety of four finishes available:  natural grade, rough, low polish and high polish.
